Minimally invasive, laser-assisted liposuction removes unwanted fat with minimal downtime. At Total Body, we use Lipotherme™ technology, which is similar to Smart Lipo. We make 4 to 6 incisions that are so small they do not require sutures and will heal on their own.
Note that this is not a laser liposuction technique that requires weekly sessions and uses no incisions. While Lipotherme does use incisions, only one session is necessary to achieve permanent fat removal and skin tightening!
The Lipotherme laser uses heat to rupture and liquefy fat cells so that they are removed forever without damaging the surrounding soft tissue. The procedure is so gentle that you can return to most activities the very next day after Lipotherme!
For all of our procedures, we treat no two patients alike, and we like to get to know everyone who comes into our office. We will evaluate you and listen to your concerns in order to determine the best way to help you look the way you want.
Bear in mind that liposuction is not a weight loss technique, but it is an effective way to reduce stubborn localized fat. The most common areas for liposuction are the abdomen, waist, thighs, buttocks, knees, back, upper arms, and neck/chin.
What can Lipotherme Liposuction do for me?
Lipotherme Lipo can:
- Reduce fat in localized areas
- Tighten and smooth the skin

Does Laser Liposuction hurt?
Local “awake anesthesia” is used so that while you are awake during the procedure, you will feel no pain. This type of anesthetic is less costly and less risky. It also provides a faster recovery.
Through each incision, we insert a tube called a cannula that is no larger than the tip of a pen. The laser energy then melts the fat cells, which are suctioned out of the body using a vacuum-like device that is attached to the cannula.
The laser heat also serves to tighten the skin, making the area smoother. Cellulite may be improved for some patients. This skin tightening effect cannot be accomplished with traditional liposuction.
We will apply a bandage to each incision, but the incisions will heal normally without stitches.
How long does it take to recover from Laser Liposuction?
Most people return to work and other activities within 48 hours of the procedure. Strenuous activity or exercise should be avoided for about a week.
Some people experience some mild bruising, swelling, and soreness in the treated areas. These symptoms usually resolve quickly – in many cases within a few days to a week.
How long does it take to recover from Lipotherme Liposuction?
Most people return to work and other activities within 2-5 days of the procedure. Strenuous activity or exercise should be avoided for 1-2 weeks.
Some people experience some mild bruising, swelling, and soreness in the treated areas. These symptoms usually resolve quickly – in many cases within a few days to a week. If you are uncomfortable, you can take non-prescription pain medication.
The incisions should heal within 2-4 weeks, and any remaining marks should disappear after a few months.
It is recommended that you wear a compression garment for several weeks for optimum results. The compression garment aids in healing along with skin tightening.
How long do Laser Liposuction results last?
Results from Lipotherme liposuction begin to show within 1-2 weeks and will continue to improve for several months. The results are permanent, and you will not develop new pockets of fat in the same places again. Fat can, of course, develop in other areas if you gain weight, so we recommend maintaining a steady weight in order to avoid the need for subsequent procedures.
Is Lipotherme safe?
Yes! It is a minimally invasive, FDA-approved technique that is well-tolerated by the body and less taxing than traditional liposuction.
How do I know if I would benefit from Laser Liposuction with Lipotherme?
The only way to know is to have a consultation with us. We will be able to evaluate what you wish to change and advise if Lipotherme liposuction will provide the results you’re after.
